It was top secret- for a little bit! We decided my dad needed a big bash for his 60th birthday! We didn't think he would agree, so we decided it had to be a surprise! We invited his friends, long ago friends, out of town family, co-workers and anyone else we thought dad might want to see.
A couple days before the big day, my dad's brother and wife arrived in town. Those out of town visitors confirmed his suspicions that there were plans he was not in on. We tried to play it down and pretend there was nothing else planned- we were still trying to figure out how to get him to his party. We figured we would have to tell him he was having a party- how else were we going to get him out to the Monestery at a specific time??
Now- it was the day of his birthday and secret party. After an early morning birthday hike up South Mountain (with a cupcake celebration and all) the babies gave him a present (a new shirt) and told him to wear it to his party! He didn't disagree, we were now optimistic that he would come! We had lunch at Joe's BBQ- a family tradition and then it was nap time and party prep time.
By the time my Dad got to his party it was full of family, friends and co-workers! The babies enjoyed the venue complete with a stage for them to dance, a sand area and plenty of room to run!
The party was a success! Happy Birthday Dad- I love you!

The babies shirts say "Love My Papa" and on the back it says "sixty"
The party was a great success- wonderful turnout and lots of fun. You did a great job with all the planning!
ReplyDeleteIt was just as much you (lori) and mom doing the planning!
