Baby Brenden

Baby Brenden was welcomed to our family last week. So, today he is officially one week old! He is sleepy, snuggly, loved, content, a great eater and has brought our family more so much joy!
He has had many visitors- many who have brought food and gifts and we couldn't be more thankful!
Brenden was born at 8:06am on Friday, June 26. He was born quickly after arriving at the hospital- within 30 min. He shares a birthday with his Uncle Josh and is one day shy from sharing a birthday with his cousin Britny. We came home Sunday afternoon and he promptly lost his umbilical cord in the middle of the night our first night home.
He had his newborn appointment on Monday, where he weighed 7.6 and we were told not to worry about his umbilical cord- just to clean it with a q-tip and hydrogen peroxide.
We had his newborn pictures done on Wednesday- we also had some done in the hospital.
He got his first at home bath Wednesday evening and consistently pees through his clothes during the night. He somehow keeps his diaper entirely dry some of the times... He can go between 3-4 hours sometimes between feedings (even in the middle of the night).
Just in the last couple days he has been very alert for about 1-2 hours in the morning and for another 1-2 hours in the evening. He lifts his head and turns it from side to side when getting comfy or 'hunting' for food.
Yesterday evening Brenden attended Peyton's Fiesta. She had a wonderful party planned and we enjoyed playing Pin the Tail on the Donkey, eating hotdogs and listening to 'Frozen'. We also made it though our first monsoon thunderstorm. (We had a small t-storm the night he was born- but this was the first one at home.)
Today he was naked all day (except for the diaper of course). I love the muslin blankets we got as gifts- I use them all the time for him. They are light enough for AZ summers, yet keep him warm in the AC.
Both Brady and Blake love him and since he's been home, Blake has been sleeping in his own bed. Until now, he has only slept with me in my bed. He still snuggles me while falling asleep, but is fine in his own bed. Brady enjoys holding Brenden and is constantly kissing him. Blake also likes to kiss him and he also snuggles with us as I'm holding or feeding Brenden.
So far, Brenden enjoys snuggling (so do we!), sleeping, being in his swing, being sung to (especially Brady's version of "You Are My Sunshine"), having a clean diaper (not being changed though), and eating.
Tomorrow we will celebrate Independence Day! Happy 4th of July!
