Happy 1st Birthday Baby Brenden!
Happy Birthday to this sweet little boy! We celebrated his birthday with a small family party- Brunch With Brenden. Before the party we did his 12 month pictures. Then it was time to get ready! Brenden had some egg bake and fruit for brunch before getting to the good stuff- cake! He thoroughly enjoyed his cake. He even shared some of it with me, which he thought was pretty funny. It was smashed flat before he was finished and he may have tried to eat more, but he waved his hands that he was done and we quickly washed him off. He got a change of clothes before opening his presents.
It took him a bit to settle down after everyone left, but he finally took a nap- normally he takes a morning nap which he skipped today.
Brenden walks, but is quicker at crawling. He seems to enjoy practicing and is good at carrying toys while walking. He has been trying to turn as he's walking. He loves his brothers, knocking down their buildings- sometimes they're built for that purpose and sometimes not, in which case Blake becomes very upset. He enjoys his night time snuggles with Daddy while I finish reading stories to Blake. He is typically back in the room within 10 minutes. Before bed he does enjoy standing up by the head board, holing on to the decorative iron rods, bouncing up and down and then falling down- a game he learned from Blake. He's sad when I finally prevent him from doing it again.
Brenden thinks it's hilarious when we ask him what a doggie says and then say "woof" at him. He's trying so hard to 'woof' and he thinks he's funny when he does.
He sometimes cries when I leave for work. He likes to stand on an ottoman and look out the front window. He still loves being outside especially when it involves water and mud. He loves to wrestle Daddy and climb on him, especially when Blake and Brady are doing the same. He's a good eater and sometimes seems to eat more than his brothers. He still wakes up in the middle of the night even though we had a stretch of time where he slept from 8:30-5:00. He loves his taggie blanket and if he doesn't have it while he's nursing he will fling his hand all over the place even hitting his head. He nods his head yes and nods his head sometimes when he's crawling. He's still a 'quiet baby' but can be loud and babbles when he's crawling around. He tries mimicking his brothers-especially when they make funny noises. We can't change his diapers fast enough and he's always trying to crawl away. He loves bath time and has been known to take his own bath and then crawl back in with Blake at a later time. (Although they mostly bathe together.) If he thinks you're trying to catch him while he's crawling he will shreik (happily) and crawl faster. He loves the dog's water bowl. He doesn't like it when he's kept from crawling out the doggie door or into the kitchen or into the dog's water bowl. He arches his back in protest to being captured at these times. Sometimes he likes to sleep on me at night, but he mostly enjoys his own space. He doesn't like being covered with sheets or blankets. He doesn't like having his teeth brushed.
Baby Brenden- we love you so much and thank God every day that you came to join our family! Thanks for making us smile, making us laugh, sharing your food, snuggling and your sweet open mouth kisses. XOXOXO
